Food products that significantly affect your health

A good diet, therefore, is the foundation of good health. Your food choices can have a significant impact on how well your body functions.

Creating a shopping list may seem like a tedious and pointless task, but constructing it will allow you to buy all the food you really need and further reduce the temptation to choose unhealthy food that is easily within our reach.

Going shopping without a list is not the best move. Especially if you are at the stage of implementing healthy eating habits. Such a place, where the shelves are swaying from a varied and interesting product, which is usually covered with various labels announcing promotions, „only now” occasions, can pose a serious threat to our diet and health.

„What you eat has a huge impact on your health and how you function every day. It is worth investing your time to prepare such a shopping list and take care of improving your diet and health.”

Despite the fact that processed products can be harmful to our health, many people buy them. If they did not buy, then the producers would not produce them, and the stores would not buy such quantities. Simple. You do not need to research to notice it. Just look at the baskets of buyers and the mere fact that such food usually does not require special and time-consuming preparation. In fact, it is almost ready to eat, and as a man hungry and busy, he wants to buy and eat and have a meal out of his head, and not yet stand in the kitchen. In addition, the deliciousness of these products also tempts with its attractiveness, thanks to various blends of spices, fats and chemical additives, whose task is to lure us even more.

And in fact, when we buy, we can eat quickly, even maybe it tastes, but what about health? Is our health worth those saved a dozen or so minutes? And is preparing a healthy meal really so difficult, time-consuming and beyond the capabilities of the busiest or lazy man? Of course not! However, this is what the shopping lists, planning and time organization are all about.

The shopping list allows us to bypass the attractive offers of stores and thus favors buying less processed and unhealthy food. Having a list, we focus on what we have planned, and by the way we can also save money.

Which products have a positive effect on our health and well-being?

First of all, you need to look for products that are rich in nutrients. The richness of vitamins and minerals, fiber, are the first signs that a given product is good and healthy. Avoid those that contain a lot of sugar, fat and salt (of course, I do not mean healthy fats, such as olive oil, fatty fish, eggs, avocados, nuts and many more). Consuming a large number of unprocessed products is associated with many health benefits, which is why our purchases should include as much as possible of these products.

So what should you enter on this list? What to put into shopping baskets?

Vegetable products

The purchase of a wide range of fruits and vegetables is very important to supplement the daily demand for vitamins, minerals and fiber. It is important to consume different products, because each of them brings something else to our health.

Vitamins and minerals are needed for the proper functioning of the body. They affect the level of our energy, the degree of resistance, regeneration, well-being, and fiber, while it facilitates digestion. Any deficiencies in the diet expose us more to the development of chronic diseases, the emergence of infection and general deterioration of health.

Fruit that should be included in our menu: apples, apricots, bananas, berries, cranberries, lemons, melons, oranges, pears.

Vegetables that should be included in our menu: avocado, carrot, cucumber, lettuce, kale, garlic, onion, pepper, tomatoes. It is also worth eating sweet potatoes and pulses.

Meat products

Consuming enough protein each day is another key aspect of maintaining and nurturing health. Protein deficiencies can cause a number of problems related to muscle loss, the appearance of fatigue and many others. This is due to the fact that the protein is the building block for all tissues in our body.

When choosing meat products, put on lean pieces that do not contain much saturated fat. Avoid processed meats such as bacon, sausages, wrapped in plastic ham (they contain a lot of salt and fat). A good option is seafood, which provides a large portion of protein, but also contain healthy fatty acids that have a positive effect on heart health.

The most important meat products that you can safely add to your shopping list are: chicken or turkey breast (of course other parts also, but taking into account the fat content of your multi-day menu), lean beef and fish such as cod, miruna, tuna, salmon or seafood.

Whole grains

Their primary benefit is that they contain a lot of fiber. As mentioned before, fiber is essential for the processes associated with digestion, so that it cares about the health of the digestive system, and increases the feeling of satiety after a meal. This is quite important, because the feeling of fullness will distract us from snacking and reaching for processed, easily available snacks.

The most important whole grains, which can be easily added to the list: rice and cereal (various varieties), oatmeal and other, whole-grain pasta, good quality bread. It is also worth considering products based on quinoa, which will also provide us with proteins.

Milk products

Dairy products provide us with proteins, calcium and vitamin D. They are of particular importance for maintaining health, density and bone strength.

What products are worth attention? Certainly they are curd, good quality yoghurt with bacterial cultures, feta cheese, kefir and other cheeses, preferably without unnecessary additives.

Other products

There are still many products that can bring us a number of health benefits and that do not fit into any of the above categories. These are, for example: almond butter (or other nuts), balsamic vinegar, eggs, honey, nuts, olive oil. It is always worth reading the composition on the packaging, because each of these products can be less and more valuable. In the case of peanut butter, it is worth seeing what the sugar content is and whether other ingredients have been added to indicate that the product is more processed.

Bottom line:

What you eat has a huge impact on your health and how you function every day. Perhaps there is not everything on this list, but it can certainly be your base. Especially if you’re just learning healthy eating. Over time, you will learn about products and make it easier for you to make decisions, which is valuable and what is not, without having to read each label. Perhaps you will initially have more work waiting, but keep in mind that this is all about your health. It is worth investing your time to prepare such a shopping list and take care of improving your diet and health.
